In the following clip, physician and former Director at the New York State Department of Health Dr David O. Carpenter shines a light on a major problem associated with Smart Meters – their impact on our health.
The question to ask… is what is the evidence that smart meters are safe and have no adverse health effects? The answer to that questions is: there is no such evidence. In fact, while no-one has actually done human health studies in relation to people living in homes with Smart Meters, we have evidence from a whole variety of other sources of radio-frequency exposure that demonstrates convincingly and consistently that exposure to radio-frequency radiation at elevated levels for long periods of time increases the risk of cancer, increases the damage to the nervous system, causes electro-sensitivity, has adverse reproductive effects, and a variety of other effects on different organ systems. There is no justification from the State Department that Smart Meters have no adverse health effects.
In stark contrast to Dr Carpenter’s comments, Public Health England (what was the Health Protection Agency) is taking the risks much less seriously and adopting a “suck it and see approach” to our grave health concerns:
HPA will be carrying out research to assess exposures from the devices as the technology is rolled out.
What this supposedly means is that we can all look forward to reading about PHE’s findings on Smart Meter emissions once these meters have been installed in guinea pig people’s homes across the UK.
So fingers crossed everyone – let’s hope for the best!

Elevated levels?
Guilty until proven innocent?
absolute poppy cock. do you use a mobile phone at all? if the answer to that is yes then you subject yourself to far higher levels of radiation at a much closer distance. smart meters just use the mobile network to connect over gsm or cellular network. the fact the meter is at the other side of your house and most likely behind a wall means that the radiation you receive from your smart meter will be a minute fraction of the radiation you receive from carrying a mobile around with or even just travelling on public transport where others carry a phone. there has been tons and tons of research on mobile phones and the health implication which is largely negligible. so please stop this scaremongering or present the evidence of such health risks .
And a very good day to you too, sir.
Your opening statement isn’t true. See here:
http://www.electrosmogprevention.org/public-health-alert/smart-meters-radiation-exposure-up-to-160-times-more-than-cell-phones-hirsch/
And smart meters each contain two microwave transmitters – one to carry traffic to the nearest cell tower, the other to connect with HAN appliances. This gives rise to upwards of 43,200 pulses of RF radiation per day (from just a single British Gas Smart Meter we measured).
Are you involved in the programme at all and able to guarantee that a bank of 50 smart meters won’t be on the other side of a wall to a baby’s cot, e.g. in a residential apartment block? What distance do you consider to be safe? Are you aware of PHE’s position on known safe distances from a Smart Meter? We are unable to find one. They apparently don’t have one. Do you know that PHE’s standards on this issue were voted “obsolete” by an EU parliamentary motion in 2008, but are still in use here?
Here’s some more evidence, as per your request. It is not comprehensive but all of it – and much, much more – is published here if you spend time looking:

Also, if you look up Prof Henry Lai’s analysis of the “tonnes” of research done, you’ll find that when industry funds them, they mostly return negatives. When funded independently, though, they most return positive (for biological harm being caused at non-thermal levels). It isn’t “negligible” – the evidence of harm is staggering, which is why the WHO saw it fit to upgrade its classification of RF-EMFs to a class 2B carcinogen in 2011 – and that included wireless ‘smart’ meters. More than 5,000 studies now show harm.
